About Linda Cooper School of Dance
Linda developed her enthusiasm and love for dance and performing ‘treading the boards’ for the first time at the age of three years.
Formally trained in Ballet with the Royal Academy of Dance until her teachers introduced the National Association of Teachers of Dancing tap and modern syllabi. From then on the next is history leading to performing, choreography and teaching. The ultimate ambition was to have her own School.
Linda became committed to providing the opportunity for those of all backgrounds and abilities to access dance embracing the ethos ‘no one is excluded.’
Over the course of Linda’s performing and teaching career she has achieved the highest qualifications gaining a degree in Dance/Arts Therapies which led to posts teaching primary, BTec and A level for Leicestershire and Derbyshire Education Authorities. Fellowship of the NATD was followed by appointment as an eximiner in 2012. Linda is also a Mutally Recognised Teacher of The Royal Academy of Dance and a Member of the International Dance Teachers Association.
All of the teaching staff have been trained by Linda, many starting as young children progressing to classroom assistants, and through a process of mentoring attain a teaching qualification.
This is an ongoing process so that we are always looking for children who show a passion for dance and theatre arts as successors in The School’s tradition of training in the future.
